Flight schedules awash in Mumbai downpour

MUMBAI: The downpour in Mumbai has disrupted flight operations to and from the city’s airport, throwing schedules awry.

The main runway at the airport has been shut since late last night. This happed as a SpiceJet flight coming from Jaipur, overshot the airport runway while landing. Passengers were deplaned safely.

As many as 54 flights have been diverted and 52 cancelled. The Bombay Municipal Corp earlier in the day declared a public holiday and issued advisories for citizens to stay indoors.
