Five Air India pilots test COVID-19 positive

NEW DELHI: Five Air India commanders based in Mumbai tested positive for Covid-19 before they were to operate flights between Mumbai and Manila.

“New standard operating procedures (SOPs) mandate a test for Covid-19 before a crew operates a flight. These pilots were found positive in those tests. Now, fresh tests will be conducted on them,” said a senior Air India official who did not want to be identified.

The official added that of the five pilots, four are trainers, who do not operate flights on a regular basis, though almost all of them flew during April.
