First night flight takes off from Srinagar airport

In a first, a night flight operated from Srinagar Airport on Friday by Go Air to New Delhi at 1915 hours.

The development comes after the air-safety teams of GoAir and IndiGo reportedly requested the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for permission to operate trial night flights from the Srinagar airport.

Director Airports Authority of India, Srinagar, Santosh Dhoke said the evening flight of GoAir was the first trial flight and was held successfully. “It was a test flight and we are hopeful that regular night flights will begin from March 28,” he said.

Several airlines are offering bookings for night flights to and from Srinagar beginning March 28. However, these companies are awaiting final approval from the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to start night operations.
