First Airbus C295 for India successfully completes its maiden flight

The first C 295 tactical lift aircraft made for the Indian Air Force undertook its maiden test flight in Spain on Monday, bringing it one step closer for the scheduled delivery later this year. The aircraft was tested in Seville, Spain and undertook a three-hour flight to check various onboard systems.

The first 16 aircraft of the type are being made in Spain, while the following 40 are to be manufactured in Gujarat by Tata Advanced Systems Limited in collaboration with Airbus. The first aircraft is likely to be delivered by September and Indian air force crews are already being trained in Spain.
