Widening work on a 15km-stretch of NH-33 along Dalma sanctuary will gain momentum with the Union ministry of environment and forest granting wildlife clearance, pending for over two years, earlier this month.
“The state government gave us the wildlife clearance issued by the Union ministry earlier this month. This has cleared all hurdles and will give fresh impetus to the construction work being undertaken by private contractors under our monitoring,” said National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) general manager (technical) cum project director A. K Sinha.
NHAI sources said the clearance was pending for last few years due to delay in submitting structural designs for underpasses at elephant corridors of the area.
