Environment activists not happy with Liberty Mutual’s partial exit from coal

Kolkata: Last week, Boston based insurance major, Liberty Mutual announced its intention to exit from companies generating more than 25% of their revenue from coal mining or coal-based energy generation, but environment activists are not yet happy.

They want the company to completely exit coal and not just limit exposure in companies with more than 25% of revenue from coal mining or coal-based energy generation.

Liberty Mutual, the fifth largest global property and casualty insurer – based on 2018 gross written premium, was the eighteenth global insurer to adopt restrictions on coal insurance.
