Engine panel from Alliance Air plane falls after take off; flight lands safely

A panel of an Alliance Air aircraft’s engine fell off after the aircraft took off from Mumbai on Wednesday morning and was retrieved by the airport staff, said officials.

There were 70 persons onboard the flight operating on Mumbai-Bhuj sector, including four crew members and an aircraft maintenance engineer. However, the flight landed safely in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Arun Kumar said the incident involving Alliance Air ATR 72-600 was reported by the Mumbai air traffic controller.

The DGCA is conducting an inquiry in the case.

The separation of the engine panel may marginally affect the performance of the aircraft and engine components exposed to airflow may also be impacted.
