Enforcement Directorate attaches Rs 20 lakh bribe amount meant for NHAI official

BENGALURU: Sleuths from Enforcement Directorate have attached Rs 20 lakh, an alleged bribe amount meant to be delivered to a National Highways Authority of India official.

According to ED, the amount was meant to reach Akhil Ahmed, regional officer, NHAI, Bengaluru region. A chartered accountant was trapped allegedly receiving the money on behalf of Ahmed by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths from the CBI in Delhi on December 30, 2021.

“The ED had initiated probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against the accused.
