‘Donate Pension’ appeal to households in works on the lines of LPG ‘Give it up’ campaign

The government is likely to involve individuals in a voluntary effort to subsidise the pensions of unorganised workers, on the lines of the ‘Give it up’ campaign that targeted the well-off to discontinue subsidies on cooking gas, in favour of those that needed it most.

The ‘Donate a pension’ campaign is likely to cost an individual only Rs 36,000 per worker, in a one-time outgo that would compensate for the monthly contribution required to be made by the worker during his entire work life under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) scheme.
