Domestic pax traffic doubles this Aug vs Aug `21: DGCA
MUMBAI: While in August last year, domestic airlines flew about 67 lakh passengers, the traffic this August doubled to over 101 lakh flyers, according to a report released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Friday. Airlines had registered a passenger traffic growth of 94% in July versus July 2021. Unlike this July, airline capacity was curtailed last year though.
Upto August, this calendar year, airlines carried a total of 770.70 lakh passengers as against the 460.45 lakhs during the corresponding period of previous year, thereby registering annual growth of about 67 %.
But due to the lean season, passenger load factor on airlines have been rather low, what with major carriers registering a load factor ranging from 84 % to 65.5 %.
