Dismantled for Metro work, residents want police chowky back

Nagpur: A chowky of the Ganeshpeth police station near Santra Market gate of Nagpur railway station has got embroiled in controversy and turned into a political issue.

The residents want the police chowky, which was dismantled due to Mahametro work, to restart as criminal activities have gone up .

With vagabonds and goons frequenting the place, the east-side gate of the Nagpur railway station is considered as unsafe. A man was murdered on platform number four around a week ago.

Locals, led by NCP leader Nutan Rewatkar, met Ganeshpeth police station senior inspector Hrishikesh Ghadge and requested him to restart the chowky. She was accompanied by resident representatives.
