Discoms set to hike power tariff after Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s approval

HYDERABAD: With chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao giving the green signal, the southern and northern power distribution companies are getting ready to increase power tariffs between 10 per cent and 20 per cent on the existing charges.

Sources in discoms said domestic users, especially those consuming between 100 and 200 units, may be spared from a huge hike but will still have to cough up more than what they have been paying in the last six years. Officials recalled that when power tariffs were last increased in 2015-16, users consuming below 200 units were completely spared from the hike.
