Diesel vehicle 15+ in Delhi? Drive starts to send it for scrapping
NEW DELHI: If you own a diesel vehicle that is more than 15 years old, the time has come to part ways. Delhi government’s transport department has initiated a drive to impound “end of life” vehicles and send them for scrapping.
The Supreme Court had, on October 29, 2918, prohibited the plying of 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles in the national capital. Similarly, a 2014 order of the National Green Tribunal also prohibits vehicles older than 15 years to be parked in any public area.
In the first phase of the drive, enforcement teams from the department would seize diesel-run vehicles that are more than 15 years old and deregistered for scrapping.
