Amid volatility in crude oil rates, the price of diesel today shot up by 15 paise a litre while that of petrol by 7 paise a litre. Due to a difference in benchmark rates of the two auto fuels in the international market, the price of diesel has been rising sharply than that of petrol.
In New Delhi, a litre of petrol today costs ₹75.81 and diesel ₹68.94. In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs ₹81.40 a litre and diesel ₹72.29 a litre. If you are in Bengaluru, you pay ₹78.35 for petrol and ₹71.24 for diesel. In Chennai, petrol costs ₹78.77 for petrol and ₹72.85 for diesel. Those in Hyderabad will have to pay ₹80.61 for petrol and ₹75.17 for diesel. In Gurgaon, you pay ₹75.08 for petrol and ₹67.79 for diesel.
Earlier, the prices of petrol and diesel were raised by state-run fuel retailers for six consecutive days.
