NEW DELHI : Amid volatility in crude oil prices due to geopolitical issues, the price of diesel went up by ₹1.09 a litre in the first 10 days of this month and that of petrol by 82 paise. State-run fuel retailers today increased the price of petrol by 15 paise a litre and that of diesel by 11 paise.
In New Delhi, a litre of petrol today costs ₹75.96 and diesel ₹69.05. In Mumbai, a litre of petrol comes at a price of ₹81.55 a litre and diesel ₹72.41 a litre. If you are in Bengaluru, you pay ₹78.50 for petrol and ₹71.35 for diesel. In Chennai, petrol costs ₹78.92 and diesel ₹72.97. Those in Hyderabad will have to pay ₹80.77 for petrol and ₹75.29 for diesel. In Gurgaon, you pay ₹75.20 for petrol and ₹67.88 for diesel.
Due to a difference in the benchmark rates of the two auto fuels, the price gap between petrol and diesel has narrowed down recently.
