Earlier this month, the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) notified the National Electricity Plan (NEP) for the period of 2022-32. The plan includes a review of the last five years (2017-22), a detailed plan for the 2022-27 period and a roadmap for the next five years (2027-32). Ajith Athrady decodes the plan.

What is the National Electricity Plan?

CEA prepares the NEP every five years forecasting the country’s power generation, transmission and demand trajectory for the coming years. It also has short-term and long term plans for electricity generation, transmission utilities and sources of electricity production.
