DGCA issues additional safety instructions for flying B737 MAX planes
Orders stricter checks, says only pilots with experience of these jets can fly; 4 countries ground fleets
NEW DELHI: India’s aviation regulator on Monday tightened norms governing the operation of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft after one such plane belonging to Ethiopian Airlines crashed on Sunday, fuelling concern about passenger safety and forcing four countries to ground these jets.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said a pilot commanding a Boeing 737 MAX must have at least 1,000 hours of flying experience on such an aircraft while the co-pilot must have at least 500 hours of experience.
