DGCA extends engine replacement deadline for IndiGo neos to May-end
NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has extended the deadline for replacement of older Pratt & Whitney engines onAirbus 320 (neos) with newer ones till May 31, 2020.
“ …DGCA feels that it can be compressed further and should be achievable by May 2020. And therefore, the revised timeline for complete removal of unmodified engines from the fleet is May 31st 2020. It is further laid down that no aircraft with unmodified engine in IndigoNSE 0.71 % fleet shall be allowed to fly after that,” said a senior official of the DGCA.
ET was first to report on December 20, 2019, that the DGCA May extend the deadline. The earlier deadline for the replacement of such engines was January 31, 2020.
