DGCA breaks records: Decade-high uptick in issuing Commercial Pilot Licences in 2023! Significant surge in female pilot licences
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has set a historic record in 2023 by issuing the highest number of Commercial Pilot Licences (CPLs) in a decade, marking a substantial advancement for the aviation sector. The DGCA issued 1,622 CPLs in 2023, witnessing a notable 39.22% increase compared to the 1,165 licences granted in the previous year.
Surge in Female Pilot Licences
DGCA‘s data reveals a noteworthy development, with 18.12% of CPLs granted to women pilots, showcasing a remarkable 22.5% surge from the year 2022. Scheduled Airlines now boast a workforce where 14% are women pilots.
