DFCCIL achieves new milestone with 3rd tunnel breakthrough on WDFC’s Vaitarna-JNPA section
The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has achieved a major milestone with the final breakthrough of the third tunnel of a section in Maharashtra’s Virar. The tunnel is a part of the 251-metres-long Vaitarna-JNPA section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).
Last month, the Ministry of Railways conducted the first trial run of the freight train between Gothangam-Makarpura DFC network. The section passes through three districts of Gujarat – Surat, Vadodara and Bharuch districts.
The Ministry of Railways is constructing Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFC) to promote industrial activities and development of new industrial hubs and townships.
