Demand for airport in B’pur gets shriller
The Ganjam Zilla Bikash Manch on Monday held a demonstration before the office of the Southern Division RDC here demanding setting up of an airport in Brahmapur city.
Later, the Manch members submitted a memorandum through the RDC addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.Though the Indian Rare Earth Limited , Tata SEZ, Brahmapur University, Army AD College and other important installations are located in the district, the State Government is not recommending the Centre to set up an airport here, the Manch stated.
The Brahmapur Development Authority (BeDA)has indentified 80 acres of land at Sitapalli. The construction of the airport should begin immediately begin there, the Manch demanded.
