Delhi Airport may double capacity of business jet terminal
India’s biggest airport, serving Delhi-NCR, is seeking to double the capacity of its business jet terminal as it sees a surge in use of private jet use after the pandemic.
The country’s busiest airport is the only aviation facility in the country to have an exclusive terminal dedicated for use of private jet operators. While it was launched in 2020 in the immediate aftermath of lockdowns when air traffic movement was severely impacted, the terminal has seen steady traffic growth as India unshackled business and mobility curbs. Currently, the terminal handles more than 30 aircraft per day and has a capacity to handle up to 150 movements per day including bigger business jets manufactured by Airbus and Embraer. Post expansion, the terminal will be able handle around 250 aircraft movements per day.
