Defamation case: Adani claims journalist’s report tarnishes firm’s image

Opposing a petition moved by senior journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta facing criminal defamation case, the Adani Power Ltd (APL), a part of Gautam Adani led Adani Group, has said in an affidavit filed in Gujarat High Court on Wednesday that due to Guha’s articles, “viewed by public at large”, the company has “suffered injury on its reputation” and they have also “tarnished the image of Prime Minister’s Office” by publishing a photo of the Prime Minister with Adani chairman Gautam Adani.

The affidavit was filed in response to Thakurta’s petition seeking transfer of criminal defamation case to Ahmedabad from Mundra, Kutch district, where APL has filed its case.
