Death toll in Himachal downpour rises to 21, railway bridge collapses
The death toll in the rain-triggered landslides and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours has risen to 21, while six persons are feared missing. According to the state disaster management officials, the downpour has resulted in 34 incidents of landslides, and flash floods in several districts.
On Saturday evening, a rolling boulder fell on a tourist car from Uttar Pradesh, killing two persons instantly and injuring two passengers who have been admitted to Theog for further treatment.
A railway bridge on the Chakki river situated in the Kangra district on the Punjab-Himachal Pradesh border collapsed due to the heavy flow of water and monsoon. The 800-meter-long narrow gauge route was built during British rule.
