Cyclone Burevi: Thiruvananthapuram airport to remain closed on Friday as IMD issues red alert in five districts

Thiruvananthapuram airport in Kerala will remain close on Friday as the state braces for the Cyclone Burevi. The airport will remain closed from 10 am to 6 pm tomorrow, news agency ANI reported citing District Collector, Navjot Khosa.

It is being closed “as a measure to ensure the safety of airport operations in view of Cyclone Burevi,” he said.

India Meteorological Department, meanwhile, has issued red alert for five districts of Kerala. In two others, there is orange alert in view of the cyclone storm Burevi.

Cyclone Burevi crossed the Sri Lanka coast on Wednesday night and is predicted to make landfall by Friday morning across the southern districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
