CSML is installing smart meters for KSEB
KOCHI: The Cochin Smart Mission Ltd is installing smart electric meters for low-tension consumers in Ernakulam, West Kochi ABD area (Wards 1-5, 62, 66 & 67), as part of the electrical infrastructure project. So far 8,039 smart meters have been set up and CSML is the first agency to swap the traditional meters with smart ones for the KSEB in the state.
The change in meters will not invite any changes in electric tariff, CSML clarified. The new smart meters could be used as pre-paid or post-paid and the users will be able to understand their electric charges without the help of others. Further, the meter readers will not have to make house visits to take readings, which is quite useful in the case of pandemic.
