Covid-19 impact: Airlines in talks with the government for seeking aid

New Delhi: Airlines are in talks with the government for seeking short-term aid in an attempt to rescue Indian carriers from the Covid-19-induced crisis, a senior industry executive said.

Indian carriers are in a spot after the government on Tuesday decided to further extend the ban on flight operations till May 3.

“As we say in India, crisis gives an opportunity to bring in structural reforms,” Ajay Singh, CMD of SpiceJetNSE -3.50 %, said while addressing by video-conference a seminar organised by Bird Group. “We are speaking with government daily for short-term help and have urged the government to include jet fuel in GST regime.
