Covid-19: Bid submission for TOT-4 auction deferred again
The bid submission date for the fourth bundle of toll-operate-transfer (TOT) auctions has been deferred yet again, this time to May 15, as uncertainty on account of the Covid-19 outbreak looms large on private investments.
Bids for TOT-4, floated in FY20, were due on Wednesday, after four rounds of postponement. The bid submission date has now been deferred by a month, a senior official told ET.
Approved in 2016, TOT is a mode of monetising operating highways where the concessionaire gets toll collection rights against a lump sum fee. This has been the highway ministry’s foolproof method of bringing private investment into the sector.
