Coming to India? Be ready to stay at home for a week
India has made a week-long home quarantine and Covid test on the eighth day compulsory for all arriving international travellers, irrespective of the countries they arrived from, as it deals with an increasing number of infections with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The health ministry has also increased the number of “at-risk” countries to 19 from the 10 it had identified in December, as the Omicron variant grips many parts of the world. In fact, a majority of people tested positive so far for the new variant had arrived from countries that were not listed as “at risk”, prompting the government to expand the list and make compulsory quarantine for all arriving passengers.
