Coal shortage: Amit Shah meets power, coal ministers
NEW DELHI: Home minister Amit Shah met power minister RK Singh and coal minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday to discuss the coal situation in the country amid reports of shortage.
According to news agency ANI, officials from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), power and coal ministry are also present in the meeting.
According to reports, over half of India’s 135 coal-fired power plants, which in total supply around 70 per cent of electricity, have fuel stocks of less than three days.
Energy supplies are under strain globally as prices surge and demand and supply chains are strained by the recovery of consumption following lockdowns to contain the pandemic.
