Coal scam case: Former Coal Secy HC Gupta awarded 3-year-jail term

A special CBI court on Monday awarded a 3-year imprisonment sentence to former coal secretary HC Gupta in a coal scam case of irregularities in the allocation of a Maharashtra coal block to a Nagpur-based private company.

Special Judge Arun Bhardwaj also awarded two year imprisonment to former joint-Secretary in the Ministry of Coal (MoC), K S Kropha in the case and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000, while Gupta was asked to pay a fine of Rs one lakh.
