Coal India unions plans another strike against pvt competition
KOLKATA: Coal IndiaNSE -1.10 %’s unions have called for a strike on August 18 to oppose private competition.
Last week, they observed a three-day strike that executives said led to a revenue loss of about Rs 400 crore.
An executive at the state-run miner said that during the strike, sales fell to 39% of average sales in recent weeks. The company was unable to sell 2.6 million tonnes, which is worth at least Rs 400 crore, the executive said on condition of anonymity.
