Coal India confident of taking on private competition: Chairman Pramod Agarwal
Kolkata: Coal IndiaNSE 1.00 % is confident of taking on private competition, chairman Pramod Agarwal said on Thursday, adding that there is no need for “undue worry”.
The comment comes even as trade unions continue to oppose opening up of the commercial mining sector.
Agarwal said there was no proposals to give away any of the company’s blocks for commercial mining.
“The company has sufficient blocks with abundant resource capacity to continue as a commercially viable entity even in the competition era… there is no cause for concern,” he said in a statement.
