Coal crisis: SECL assures supply sufficient coal to Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Amidst the coal crisis looming large, South Eastern Coal Fields Limited (SECL)—one of the major coal producers—has assured to ensure supply of 29,500 MT of coal per day for thermal power plants in Chhattisgarh.

Reviewing the coal supply situation in the wake of many states facing crisis leading to the closure of thermal power plants in some states, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel requested SECL chairman-cum-managing director for his intervention, pointing out that SECL has been extracting coal from the mines in the state and supplying to various states for long.

Since Chhattisgarh is the source of coal supply, SECL should supply good quality coal as per their requirement to the thermal power plants of Chhattisgarh on a priority basis, he said.
