CM directs Transco to arrange for additional power supply

HYDERABAD: With the first phase of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) expected to be operational by July end this year, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed Telangana State Transmission Corporation (TS Transco) to make arrangements to provide 3,800 MW of additional power to lift water from Godavari river.
As the government is planning to lift one more tmcft of water for the project from the next kharif season, the CM has asked officials to ensure supply of additional 6,100MW of power. “The required additional power supply should be ensured round-the-clock for six months when there is full flow of water in Godavari. By lifting 540 to 600 tmcft of water a year, the government aims at providing water for 45 lakh acres of land for both the crop seasons,” the chief minister said during a review meeting with officials on Thursday.
