CIL misses output target; supplies to power sector highest in FY22

Coal India’s supplies to the power sector rose to an all-time high in the last financial year, however, it missed the fiscal’s production target by a large margin due to the second wave of Covid-19 in the first quarter and heavy rains in the third quarter, a company executive said.

The company produced 622.6 MTs of coal in FY’22 against a previous high of 607 MTs in 2018-19. However, it did not meet the production target of 670 million tonnes for the last fiscal. Compared to 596.2 MTs of FY’21, the growth is 4.4%.
