CID notice to BJP leader in coal smuggling case

The Bengal Criminal Investigation Department has sent a notice to TMC-turned-BJP leader and former Asansol Mayor Jitendra Tewari asking him to appear before its officers. When asked Tewari said he had indeed received a notice to appear as a witness adding “I do not know why they have called me in 2022 in a case related to 2019,” why other BJP leaders said the CID letter was an act of retaliation against the CBI notice to Bengal minister and Asansol MLA Maloy Ghatak in coal smuggling case. Ghatak however avoided appearance on two consecutive occasions.
