Chennai airport to be expanded by taking over AAI colony, Air India colony
CHENNAI: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to further expand Chennai airport by building a satellite terminal on the northern side of the main runway and by expanding the airside by taking over the AAI colony and Air India colony near GST Road.
The work is likely to be taken up after the ongoing expansion of the terminals are completed to boost the passenger capacity to 35 million a year.
A new terminal is ready for opening and an extension of the new one will be completed by end of 2024.
