Chhattisgarh has been selected by the union Ministry of Rural Development for the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’ Phase III, setting a target for 5,612 km of roads in the state. These will be built using green technology where plastic waste will be used.
Chhattisgarh Rural Road Development Authority (CRRDA) CEO Alok Katiyar said that earlier the Ministry had sanctioned 355 roads with a total length of 3,729 km and 10 bridges, costing Rs 2,290 crores.
Another 1,883 km of upgrading covering 180 roads and 18 bridges having a total cost of Rs 1,138 crores was sanctioned on June 23, taking the total to 5,612 km.
Katiyar said that after seeking permission from the state government, the tender process will be started.
