C’garh announces sops for buying electric vehicles

The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday announced various sops for promoting electric vehicles which include waiver of road tax and registration fee.

Also, the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) will be reimbursed for manufacture of electric vehicles. Electricity tariff for charging stations will be waived.

An official communication said the state has set a target of procuring four lakh electric vehicles by 2026-27.

“There will be 100 percent road tax exemption on all electric vehicles purchased during the first two years from the date of commencement of this policy. Road tax exemption on all-electric vehicles purchased in the next two years and one year will be 50 percent and 25 percent respectively,” the communication said.
