Centre to start routes for planes with a capacity of less than 20
The Centre is soon expected to announce the next phase of the “Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik” scheme, UDAN 5.2, extending to the routes which will be connected by aircraft with a seating capacity of less than 20 passengers, Financial Express (FE) reported on Tuesday.
This is being done to improve last-mile connectivity in remote regions of the country.
According to the report, UDAN 5.2 will use aircraft categories like 1A and 1. Category 1A planes have a seating capacity of nine passengers, while Category 1 planes have a capacity of fewer than 20 passengers.
