Centre reworks sector targets for renewable energy generation goals
The Centre has reworked its sector wise target for achieving 175 GigaWatt of renewable energy generation capacity by 2022. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and Renewable Energy, RK Singh, said it has now been decided that the distinction between different forms of renewable energy (such as wind and solar) will not be taken into consideration while achieving the 175-GW renewable energy capacity generation goals till 2022.
“We are not rigid about the mix (of different forms of renewable energy), there will be flexibility within the overall target,” Singh said. Singh was speaking after a meeting with energy ministers from renewable energy-rich States.
