Central panel to look into whether Andhra curtailed renewable power
BENGALURU: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Union new and renewable energy ministry to form an expert committee to look into whether the Andhra government has been curtailing wind and solar power in the state.
The committee will comprise of technical experts from Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO), the court said while hearing contempt of court petitions filed by renewable energy developers against state authorities.
“The state government cannot give direction to the discoms or to the generators to curtail electricity generation, because the price is high,” the court said in its order issued on January 27.
