Canadian expert suggests ways to end power shortage

Ludhiana: An expert from Canada, who is working with the Himachal Pradesh government on microgrid project, suggested demand response management as a solution to offset power shortage.

Speaking during a session on micro grid and peer-to-peer sharing, Dr Prateek Saxena, CEO & co-founder of an Ontario-based energy firm, said the utilities don’t let most of the solar power generated enter the grid for various reasons. In order to make the grid more reliable, it would be beneficial to shift big loads from the grid and make them independent. Villages could have their own microgrid and that would be sufficient to feed their demand, he said.
