Campuses go green with vertical gardens, solar panels in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Several campuses in the city are undertaking measures to reduce their carbon footprints and introduce several green and eco-friendly initiatives for sustainable environment.

While some colleges are using alternate sources of energy, others are setting up vertical gardens. Many colleges and universities have banned use of plastic on the campus while many have started disposing of e-waste in a manner prescribed in government guidelines.

Several campuses in the city are increasingly shifting to alternate modes of energy. Many colleges have already installed solar panels while others are in the process of getting them installed.
