Cairn wants AI case paused, joint plea seeks response time
Cairn Energy has sought a stay on further proceedings in its suit against Air India and, in a separate joint plea with the Indian government, sought extension of all briefing deadlines related to the arbitration award enforcement in the US court.
This is a further de-escalation between the Indian government and the UK firm, raising the possibility of a quick resolution to a seven-year-old tax dispute that prompted an arbitration tribunal last December to order India to pay $1.2 billion plus interest and cost to the company.
