Cabinet to consider marketing rights for pre-NELP gasfields

NEW DELHI: The oil ministry has prepared a Cabinet proposal to offer gas marketing freedom to pre-NELP fields, which would help operators such as VedantaNSE 3.16 % and Focus Energy extract market price for their output.

These operators already have pricing freedom for natural gas they produce but don’t have marketing rights, which means they must negotiate price with a government-nominated gas buyer.
