Buying power at Rs 22 per unit, won’t let power crisis spoil festivities: UP CM Yogi Adityanath
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said here on Sunday that his government was buying electricity from energy exchange and other sources at a cost up to Rs 22 per unit as it was unwilling to let the ongoing festivities get affected by shortage of power in the aftermath of a nationwide coal crisis.
The disclosure — perhaps for the first time — came while he was addressing party workers during Samajik Pratinidhi Sammelan, a programme initiated by the BJP to reach out to the OBC community ahead of the UP polls.
“We would not let the power crisis spoil the festivities in any of the districts,” Yogi declared, maintaining that on normal days the same power was purchased at Rs 7 per unit.
