BSE Power index surges nearly 5%; NTPC, Adani Power, ABB hit new peaks

Shares of power and its related companies were on a roll, with the S&P BSE Power index surging 5 per cent and hitting a new high of 5,384.21 in Tuesday’s intra-day trade led by Adani Group stocks amid expectations of strong power demand due to improvements in economic activities. At 01:19 PM; S&P BSE Power index, the top gainer among sectoral indices, was up 4 per cent, as compared to 0.46 per cent rise in the S&P BSE Sensex. In the past two months, the power index has surged 19 per cent, while in nine months, it zoomed 59 per cent.
