Bridge on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway to be open, repair work put off

MUMBAI: Repair work of Varsova creek bridge on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Ghodbunder Road junction that was to begin on Sunday has been halted due to traffic caused by diversion of heavy vehicles to pothole-filled Thane roads.The 50-year-old bridge refurbished in 2017 was to be taken up for repairs from Sunday to Tuesday. Heavy vehicles were banned from plying from Tuesday.

One of the two lanes of the bridge was to be kept open for light vehicles.Now both the lanes will be functional till further notice and all vehicles canply on it, said the police.
